Babaevskiy is one of the oldest Moscow confectionery factories, with more than 200 years of history! The “sweet business” has been started back in 1804 by the former serf peasant Stepan, who have opened a pastry shop in Moscow and for his art of making wonderful sweets from apricots (“abrikos” in Russian), he got the nickname, and then the last name “Abrikosov”. But it was his grandson Alexey who brought the great recognition to this family name, as he has turned a small confectionery production into one of the largest enterprises in Tsar Russia.

Since 1880, the family business of Abrikosovs has become known both in Russia and abroad under the name “A.I. Abrikosov and Sons” and in 1899 it was awarded the honorary title "Supplier of the Court of His Imperial Majesty." After the Bolsheviks’ October Revolution of 1917, in November 1918, the Abrikosovs factory was nationalized and later in 1922 it was renamed after P.A. Babayev, the head of the Sokolniki district executive committee.

In the 1930s, the factory became the largest producer of caramel, toffee and fruit drops in USSR, and after the World War 2 it was renovated and modernized to accommodate the new developments in the confectionary production.

During its long and rich history Babaevsky’s owners and employees have created more than 200 new varieties of confectionery, including the most famous and popular to this day: “Babaevsky”, “Inspiration”, “Lux”, "Visit", "Babaevskaya Belochka" and many others. The high quality of its confectionery products is confirmed by numerous prizes and awards received at specialized exhibitions and contests. The collection of awards includes the “Golden Cup: of the Geneva exhibition, the “Brand of the Year” award, the “Trust Mark” and many others. Employees of the company preserve and improve the old traditions of quality established by the founders of the factory, and, for example, some varieties of caramel are still produced according to old recipes.

Because of that when you’ll be buying Russian chocolate or candies of Babaevskiy factory you can be sure of not only the great taste but also of the rich history of these products!
